R.A.F Coningsby Typhoon Maintenance Facility
Last Year John Lord were involved in two projects for the R.A.F, one at R.A.F Alconbury and the other at R.A.F Coningsby. R.A.F Coningsby involved an exciting project with the MOD to create a new state of the art Typhoon Maintenance Facility at R.A.F Coningsby, Lincolnshire.
The project costing £18m, was the result of seven years of planning labour and building work began in May 2008 lead by Clark Construction. Stretching 36 metres along the tarmac, the ten-bay Maintenance Facility which now houses the Eurofighter Typhoon, covers 10,700 square metres and needs 207 people to operate it at full capacity.
The flooring requirements within this facility included the installation of a heavy-duty and long lasting floor finish which would provide a safe working surface in wet and dry conditions. John Lord used the Uragard HT polyurethane resin system throughout the hangar to fulfill these requirments. A bespoke Blue/Grey colour was created by John Lord for the hangar.
The new hangar was offically opened in October 2009.
