FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What specification and finish of concrete do you need to install your products?

If the concrete is an existing floor base, it should meet the following requirements:

* Be in sound condition and not suffer from on-going settlement due to subsidence or similar influences.
* It will need to be of a good quality, being a minimum strength of 30 N/mm.sq with a sound surface finish de-void of loose, friable material, surface crazing or irregular structural cracks.
* It must be laid over an effective damp proof membrane, or if not, it must not suffer from rising damp or migrating moisture from the sub-ground.
* The surface must be free of excessive laitance.
If the concrete is a newly installed slab, it should meet the following requirements:
* Be of a minimum strength of 35 N/mm.sq, with a minimum cement content of between 320 and 350kgs per cubic metre.
* Be laid with sufficient surcharge to ensure a high density when compacted.
* Ideally have a powerfloated finish, although steel hand float, wood float, beam float or lightly brushed finished are acceptable providing there is minimal laitence.
* The tolerances and levels in the concrete should be to standards required of the finished resin systems.
* Be well-cured prior to over-laying.
